I’m giving three masterclasses this coming week: at the Royal Academy of Music on Monday, at Trinity College of Music on Tuesday, and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on Thursday (details on the Concert and Events Schedule tab at the top of this page).
I didn’t really intend to have such an intensive week of teaching – the dates are the result of trying to find the small windows of opportunity during college terms when students are not busy with assessments, reading weeks, exams, auditions, orchestral projects and end-of-term performances. Now I have eight different scores to study and play to myself on the piano over the weekend.
You are busy, Susan. I am wondering what repertoire your obviously gifted and committed students are studying with you…
They are studying duo sonatas (piano and violin, piano and cello) and piano trios ranging from Beethoven to Fauré. They are not ‘my’ students, and I’m just a visiting tutor at various London music colleges, but it is very interesting to encounter students at this stage in their lives, just before they turn professional.
