October 2026
15 October at 8pm – solo recital at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, part of the Kettle’s Yard 50th Anniversary season. Booking information to follow.
September 2026
18th September, evening – I’ll be giving a solo recital at the new Laidlaw Music Centre in the University of St Andrews, Scotland. Booking information to follow.
August 2026
18 August at 3.30pm, St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh – as part of the Cathedral’s new Afternoon Piano Series during the Edinburgh Fringe, I’ll be playing a solo recital. Admission is free (donations to the Cathedral).
June 2026
9th June, 7.30pm – I’ll be chairing the panel of judges for the Directors’ Recital Prize, a prestigious annual competition for students of St Mary’s Music School, held in St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh
April 2026
Friday 17 April at 1pm, Wigmore Hall, London W1: solo recital marking the publication of my new book Nocturnes and the Fascination of Night Music. Programme will include nocturnes and other night-related piano music. Priority booking opens 14 January, and tickets go on sale to the general public on 27 January.
March 2026
24 March: My new book, Nocturnes – and the Fascination of Night Music, will be published by Yale University Press. It can be pre-ordered now through Yale or through your favourite bookseller.
25th March at 7pm, Topping’s Bookshop, Edinburgh: I’ll be in conversation with Robert Philip about my new book on the history of the nocturne (see above). Click here for tickets and more information. You’ll see that there are various types of ticket, some of which include a copy of the book.
January 2026
January 9 at 1pm, ‘Fridays at One’, Concert Hall, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow: solo recital of music by some of the historical women pianists featured in my book. Ticket info and programme here.
January 9, 3-6pm, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow: I’ll be adjudicating the Tony and Tania Music Prize for performances of rarely-heard Russian keyboard repertoire. This major award with a generous cash prize is hotly competed for by students.
