Tuesday 13 May: The paperback edition of my book Women and the Piano is published by Yale University Press.
March 2025
Sunday 16 March at 3.30pm: Solo recital in Kelso Old Parish church for Kelso Music Society in the Scottish Borders – programme details and information here.
Saturday 22 March at 3pm – solo recital at King’s College Cambridge after Foundation Lunch event – invited guests only
January 2025
I start this year in a writing phase, because I have a book due in to the publisher by May. So, probably not so many outside events to list. Here’s one, though.
Friday 24 January: Online seminar for the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, USA.
November 2024
Monday 4 November at 1pm: Solo recital, Wesley Chapel, Harrogate. Piano music by Joseph Haydn, John Field, Clara Schumann, Edvard Grieg.
October 2024
Sunday 6 October at 3pm: I’ll be playing a solo recital of music by historical women pianist-composers at the London Piano Festival, King’s Place, London. The concert will be followed by a Q&A between me and Tim Parry, editor of International Piano magazine, about the history of women playing the piano.
September 2024
September 6 at 11.00am: (Coffee Concert – coffee and cake from 11am; concert at 11.30am) I’ll be giving a solo recital in Holy Trinity Church, Haddington, as part of the Lammermuir Festival in East Lothian. Music by nine of the historical women pianists featured in my recent book.
August 2024
August 3 at 1pm: I’ll be giving a solo recital in St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Edinburgh, as part of the Edinburgh Fringe. Tickets are free (donations go to the Cathedral). Programme includes piano music by Joseph Haydn, Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Cécile Chaminade and Edvard Grieg.
August 11 at 6.45pm: I will be speaking about my book Women and the Piano, in conversation with Kate Molleson at the Edinburgh Book Festival. Tickets go on sale on 20 June. Info here.
