Last night I gave a talk, with Bob interviewing me, at Toppings Bookshop in Edinburgh (see photo of me with piles of Nocturne books waiting to be signed). It was a pleasure to speak at a sold-out event in this lovely bookstore.
The book has had another good review, this time in Country Life magazine: ‘Susan Tomes is a fine pianist who also writes with elegance, grace and erudition – quite a combination …. This fascinating study concludes with an image of nocturnes as standing on the threshold between ‘day mind’ and ‘night mind’, ‘looking both ways, into the light and into the dark.’ The author will be giving a recital of nocturnes at the Wigmore Hall, London W1, on April 17.’
‘Nocturnes’ is also Book of the Month on Presto Music. So I’m grateful for this encouraging start to the book’s journey.

I am delighted the book is already doing so well. In these days of e-commerce it’s a pleasant surprise to find we still have plenty of real bookshops, and that indeed they are actually improving in quality.
Bravissima!!!
