Concert & Event Dates

April 2026
Friday 17 April at 1pm, Wigmore Hall, London W1: solo recital marking the publication of my new book Nocturnes and the Fascination of Night Music. Programme will include nocturnes and other night-related piano music. More details and ticket information to come in January.
March 2026
My new book, Nocturnes – and the Fascination of Night Music, will be published by Yale University Press on March 24, 2026. It can be pre-ordered now through Yale or through your favourite bookseller.

January 9 at 1pm, ‘Fridays at One’, Concert Hall, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow: solo recital of music by some of the historical women pianists featured in my book. Ticket info and programme here.

December 2-4 in London: Recording a solo disc of piano music by some of the historical women pianists featured in my book Women and the Piano. The disc should be released later in 2026 on Hyperion Records and streaming platforms.

Wednesday 13 August at 1pm: Solo recital in St Mary’s Cathedral, Palmerston Place, Edinburgh – part of the Edinburgh Fringe (tickets are free, but get there early as this is a popular series).
Please note that this concert is in St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral, Palmerston Place, and not St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Broughton Street – last year, a few people got mixed up about the location and arrived halfway through the concert!

Thursday 6 March at 6pm: as part of Women’s History Month, I’m giving a talk at the museum of historical instruments at St Cecilia’s Hall, Niddry Street, Edinburgh. In conversation with historian Robert Philip, I’ll be discussing some of the attitudes that confronted women who dreamed of a career in music. The talk will last for an hour. There is no specified ticket price – it’s ‘pay what you can’. Sunday 6 October at 3pm: I’ll be playing a solo recital of music by historical women pianist-composers at the London Piano Festival, King’s Place, London. The concert will be followed by a Q&A between me and Tim Parry, editor of International Piano magazine, about the history of women playing the piano.
